BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust in 60 Seconds

Edison’s investment companies team recently published a review of BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust (BRGE). Its managers Stefan Gries and Alexandra Dangoor run a concentrated portfolio of high-quality European growth stocks. This strategy has proved successful with outperformance versus the trust’s reference index and its peers; ranking first out of six funds over 10 years in the AIC Europe sector. The managers remain positive on the trust’s prospects, investing for the long term and acting as investors in businesses rather than traders in shares. Themes represented in the fund include: companies with strong brands and pricing power; beneficiaries of the energy transition away from fossil fuels; companies with unique products or services; and firms with structural growth opportunities.
