Analyst Interview – Neil Shah on the Future of equity research white paper

Neil Shah, co-author of the white paper on the future of equity research, which was published in January 2014 in collaboration with Neil Scarth of Frost Consulting, discusses the report’s key findings. Neil outlines six short- and long-term changes he sees as a result of regulatory changes in the equity research ecosystem. The authors believe the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Conflicts of Interest document issued in November 2012 and subsequent consultation paper, Consultation on the use of dealing commission rules issued in November 2013, have the potential to be the most significant catalysts for change the equity research ecosystem has seen in a century, and could potentially have a global impact on the provision of equity research.
