Executive Interview – Ncondezi

Ncondezi plans to develop an integrated IPP project in Mozambique, with a long-life captive mine supplying thermal coal to a modular power plant, scalable up to 1,800MW capacity. The initial 300MW phase is expected to be commissioned in 2017 targeting the domestic market. Ncondezi appears to be close to receiving the power framework agreement (PFA), which should be followed by the key commercial agreements within a 12-month period and then project funding. These steps are expected to fully de-risk the project, driving the re-rating of the stock.
