Executive Interview – Seeing Machines

Seeing Machines (SM) is an AIM-listed technology company, headquartered in Australia, focused on operator monitoring and intervention sensing technologies and services. SM’s intellectual property is based around three sets of algorithms covering eye gaze, head tracking and eye aperture, which are primarily used by its customers to track eye and facial movement to monitor fatigue, drowsiness and distraction events, such as microsleeps, texting and cell phone usage. In conjunction with the data analysis, SM also provides for a real-time intervention strategy, which improves safety, preserves assets, and reduces risk.

In this video, CEO Ken Kroeger discusses the new global product licensing and distribution agreement that SM has just signed with Caterpillar (NYSE.CAT). This deal supersedes the previous four-phase agreement with Caterpillar that the group signed in May 2013. It guarantees a minimum level of revenue, with a US$17.5m fee paid over four years, along with ongoing royalties on product sales and services. The deal strengthens the group’s relationship with the US blue chip construction equipment maker, expanding the partnership into product development and across new sectors.
