More on this equity

Gresham House Energy Storage Fund (GRID) invests in utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the UK. GRID is the UK’s largest owner and operator of BESS, with an operational portfolio representing 20% of the market. This is significantly greater than the next largest owner, which holds less than 10% of operational projects.

The investment case for these batteries rests on the integral role they play in the global transition to renewable energy, as BESS store power from intermittent energy sources, such as solar and wind, until it is required.

However, the BESS sector has been under pressure this year. In this interview, we talk to James Bustin, GRID’s assistant fund manager, about recent challenges and how GRID has responded. We discuss GRID’s landmark tolling agreement with Octopus Energy and why this deal is so significant. James also explains why he expects GRID’s revenues to rise over time.
